Inside the Dark Web documentary: Decades after the initial launch of the internet as a tool for scientific research it has turned into a whole different beast which is used for surveillance by governments and other, darker organisations. This is of great concern to a lot of people in light of recent events in the news such as Edward Snowden for example and a topic which is explored in detail in the documentary “Inside the Dark Web” narrated by Amanda Drew.
The film explores how official institutions such as the British GCHQ, which directly intercepts all internet traffic coming into the UK from the cables as they emerge out of the sea is working to help protect the nation's security, to companies that are using patterns in the very way we use the net to build huge data banks about people.
