This is the story of Citizenfour, an alias for Edward Snowden, the whistle blower who exposed many of the NSA's most guarded secrets VIA encrypted e-mail. As we watch citizenfour online we learn the story of why Edward Snowden went to such lengths to reach out to a reporter and have numerous meetings in Hong Kong which started in January 2013.

The evidence that Edward Snowden presented as “Citizefour” (his alias) was of the illegal covert surveillance programs run by the NSA in collaboration with other intelligence agencies worldwide. This movie shows just what events unfolded since.

Read The Snowden Files, by Luke Harding. It does a much much better job on unfolding the events of June 2013.

The documentary had so much potential, but it fell flat.

The documentary is just an interview with Snowden. It leaves out so much interesting things. What The Guardian had to go through to publish, how the american newpapers got the leaks, how Assange helped Snowden in Moscow.

I expected so much more and Snowden deserved more.
Oscar undeserved.
