“An Open Secret”; Exposing the child sexual abuse in Hollywood. Amy Berg presents one of the first documentaries that targeted the huge amount of sexual exploitation which occurred in Hollywood and apparently still happens to this day.
Berg decided to make the documentary after she was approached by Matthew Valentinas in 2011. She has been quoted as saying the following in regards to her motivations:
We chose Amy because we didn't want it to be exploitative or tabloid. We wanted it to be empowering for the victims.
The An Open Secret documentary exposes what has been going on in Hollywood for a very, very long time. In a subtle yet decisive way, this documentary kindled the massive sex scandal which exploded in 2017.
