The Man Who Lost His Body is about Ian Waterman who in 1971 came down with an illness which was at first suspected to be Gastric Flu however after a few days he became so weak that he collapsed and was unable to move his body and admitted to Hospital.
Waterman's illness was so mysterious that doctors were unable to diagnose him. It attacked his nervous system and removed all the senses of touch throughout his body as well as the ability to move muscles.
This 1998 BBC follows Ian’s story as he eventually learned to talk and walk again but not without massive effort, akin to a human in space.
