Stoned in Suburbia has been labelled as a ‘social history film’ by the filmmakers, charting the shift in social perception of Marijuana in the UK. It is actually a light-hearted, and at times hilarious, look at the consumption of the drug in the UK and the laws that govern it.

Consumption of cannabis is at an all-time high in the UK with over 10 million Brits confessing to having tried it at least once and over 2 million admitting smoking it at least once a month. The film looks back at the sixties revolution, the hippy movement, the punk scene, all the way up to the current day, all told via first-hand accounts of various people of interest. A particular highlight is the appearance of old age pensioners who have been arrested for possession of the drug.
