My Boyfriend The Sex Tourist: Thailand: The second episode in a two-part 2007 documentary series directed by Monica Garnsey which explores the global sex tourism industry, this episode visits a village in North East Thailand to show how many young Thai women are choosing to turn their backs on a traditional farming life and instead decide to seek marriage with a rich westerner and the lifestyle that comes with it.
The girls use a contact in the village who assists them in setting up online dating profiles. Most of them will not, however, achieve their goal of finding a rich foreigner to marry but will instead turn to Bangkok to work as ‘bar girls’, sleeping with tourists for money.
