20th Century Battlefields 1968 Vietnam war documentary. The Vietnam war, also known as the resistance war against America was a cold war era proxy war which began on the first of November 1955 and ended with the fall of Saigon on the 30th April 1975. It was fought by the Soviet & Chinese supported North Vietnamese army against the government of South Vietnam along with allies, United States and the Philippines. It was one of the most brutal wars in modern history laced with controversy and fought with massive air superiority by the United States and massive superiority VIA guerrilla warfare on the ground by the Viet Kong.

The main reason for the United States & Philippines role in the war has been reported because of their strong anti-communist stance therefore imploring the counties to take action to prevent the republic of South Vietnam being taken over by the North. The result was a grueling war that lasted for nearly twenty years and the use of chemical weapons such as agent orange which has caused untold harm to civilians many years after the conflict had ended.

Who won the Vietnam war? The US were forced out of the country in 1975 but North Vietnam signed a surrender agreement. Truth is completely blurred and is symbolized in the unknown number of Vietnamese civilian’s killed which could be anywhere between 260,000 and 2 million.

This documentary focuses on the Ted offense, more specifically the fighting in Saigon and the battle of Hue.
