Bitcoin started out as a geeky project with a few developers who wanted to make a currency which didn't involve banks. This cryptocurrency idea quickly exploded into a worldwide phenomenon, today people from every conceivable walk of life want to get involved in it.

He then explores the benefits and pitfalls of this electronic currency which has no physical existence apart from huge mining operations which hunt for keys in the blockchain.
One woman in the documentary invested £32,000 into a competitor of Bitcoin call OneCoin. When the companies servers were raided and shut-down for operating a Ponzi scheme she lost everything.
