Australian computer programmer Julian Assange founded WikiLeaks in 2006 and to this day he is the editor of the website. The site didn't receive a great deal of attention until they published an explosive set of United States Government classified documents given to them by Chelsea Manning in 2010. In this leak featured the infamous Collateral Murder video (April 2010). The US government launched an investigation into WikiLeaks and Assange who was living in the UK at the time. He surrendered to UK police in December 2010 because of a separate extradition warrant issued by Sweden but eventually got bail and was granted asylum by Ecuador in 2012 and has remained in the Embassy of Ecuador in London since then.
