There is a good chance that you have heard about Amanda Knox, for she was embroiled in one of the most publicised murder trials of all time. This 2011 Amanda Knox documentary tells the untold story.
In 2007 Knox was convicted of the murder of Meredith Kercher, her British roommate while studying linguistics in Via Della Pergola, Italy. After a long trail without even having a lawyer, she was found guilty in December 2009 and sentenced to 26 years in prison, which would be grim under any circumstances, but to have to serve it in a foreign country would make it 10x's worse.
She was only acquitted after spending four years in jail when a retrial found her to be innocent. After being freed Amanda flew back to the US and was greeted with massive support.
