The Rise of Fentanyl: More than two years ago BBC News made a report on the growing problem of opioid addiction in the United States.

Today, an American under the age of 50 is more likely to die from a drug overdose than anything else. The illegal production of Fentanyl, an opioid used as pain medication and as an anaesthesia when mixed with other chemicals has unleashed the worst public health crisis in American history.

Fentanyl is 50 times stronger than Heroin and last year at least 70,000 died from overdoses. This BBC three documentary returns to where the original news report on I-95, the interstate that runs from Florida to Maine, to see what has become of their struggle against addiction.
