Powaqqatsi is the next documentary that award-winning filmmaker Godfrey Reggio made after the ground-breaking Koyaanisqatsi (1982).
This film explores how technology in developing, second-world countries is affecting people as they transition into first-world west-style modernisation. Like all of Reggio's work, Powaqqatsi uses stunning visuals to provide a deep appreciation for a changing world. It's is an experimental piece of work which shows life from a completely different viewpoint in comparison to other documentaries which use cinematography in an objective manner.
After making Powaqqatsi and Koyaanisqatsi, Reggio directed Baraka (1992) and Samsara (2011) which all intertwine with one another.
