The tobacco industry is worth $430bn a year globally, and that figure keeps on growing, literally billions of us smoke at least casually. It is perhaps surprising therefore that there are so few documentaries about tobacco around, right? We Love Cigarettes is a BBC Horizon documentary which attempts to capture the worlds love of nicotine in one day.

One-third of the world's cigarettes are smoked in China, and nicotine remains the worlds biggest killer, yet we still elect to kill ourselves slowly with every puff despite knowing the risks. Also well worth a watch is Bannatyne Takes on Big Tobacco, a programme in which Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne travels to Africa to expose the way that some of the world largest tobacco corporations are creating a new generation of nicotine addicts by marketing cigarettes to children.
