We Lived Through a War: Compton LA is a 2018 documentary hosted by English journalist Katty Kay about gun violence in Compton.
Compton L.A became famous around in the world in late 1980's for gang crime and rappers who talked about what was going on there such as Eazy-e. The Californian city was even depicted in the 2004 video game "Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas".
While Compton was glamourised in rap videos, the gun violence took a heavy toll on the community. Homicide has fallen dramatically there in recent years but gangs remain a fact of life for people in Compton which is what this documentary explores.
