Twin Sisters: A World Apart, a 2015 documentary by Mona Friis Bertheussen which tells the amazing story of two twins who were born in China but now live with adoptive parents on opposite sides of the world.

In 2003 Mia and Alexandra were found abandoned in a cardboard box and were both subsequently adopted. Alexandra moved to Norway where she has grown up in the isolated but idyllic village of Fresvik. Mia was adopted by American parents and has lived in a typical US suburb ever since.

Initially, neither of the twins were told they were in fact twins but a DNA test at the orphanage allowed them to keep in touch.

The documentary Twin Sisters: A World Apart tells a remarkable story of a genetic connection remaining despite only having had minimal contact and speaking different languages.
