In the first episode of the 3 part series, Sona Datta travels to Pakistan to trace the ancient origins that have shaped the modern India we see today. India is a subcontinent steeped in culture and huge religious significance. We at one of the very first great human civilizations that spawned on the banks of the mighty Indus river over 5000 years ago. Sona looks at some extraordinary artwork from the period and imagines what life would have been like for the people.

Today Pakistan is largely perceived as a monolithic Muslim state. but Pakistan was, in fact, the birthplace of many different religions and faiths from around the world. This rich and multicultural past is now being somewhat repressed by a new and misguided way of thinking. A truly fascinating documentary that opens the door on this lost and ancient civilization.

Great book by Sona. One of the most underrated authors of the Indian subcontinent.
