A three-part series about the rise of Donald Trump during the 1980’s until becoming POTUS. The journey of Donald Trump is one filled with risks and plunging into unknown territories, unlike his father who hated risky business decisions. Donald built Trump as a brand showing off the biggest and best in the hotel and purely capitalist gambling industry, it was glamorous and symbolic of what the American dream is.

The Trump gambling venture was more about building his brand than a business that could actually make money. It was a technical impossibility to pay back the 100’s of millions of dollars he has borrowed to build them as claimed in the documentary and this shows the mentality of always having to be the biggest and the best no matter what the cost may be.

This recklessness is evident in the number of bankruptcies he has had:

Bankruptcy 1: The Trump Taj Mahal, 1991

Opened in 1990, by 1991 it was more than $3 billion dollars in debt, with Trump having more than $900,000,000 in personal liabilities.

Bankruptcy 2: Trump Plaza Hotel, 1992

Opened in 1992, by the end of the year it was in $550 million worth of debt.

Bankruptcy 3: Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts, 2004

Closed owing roughly $1.8 billion.

Bankruptcy 4: Trump Entertainment Resorts, 2009

Was hit by the 2008 recession and failed to pay $53.1 million bond interest payment.

In “Trump an American dream” we hear from people who were close to the 45th president of The United States that his brand and charisma often cover up what is going on behind the scenes.
