The War Tapes, a 2006 war documentary directed by Deborah Scranton which takes us to the front lines of the Iraq War.
As the National Guard was called up for duty in Iraq, several of them were given light-weight digital cameras to record the action they were to see. The result was hours of footage depicting the horrors of wars and complex situation in that troubling conflict. The film was edited down into the concise piece we see above.
The War Tapes was filmed by Sergeant Steve Pink, Sergeant Zack Bazzi and Specialist Mike Moriarty and is one of the few war documentaries to be captured entirely be soldiers themselves.
