The Scheme documentary series takes us to Scotland, following six families in the Onthank and Knockinlaw housing schemes.
Narrated by Jamie Lee, the film has been criticised as being "poverty porn" by residents of the streets depicted, though the BBC producers of "The Scheme" have denied this and maintained it exposes an important subject. This is not too dissimilar to what Channel 5 have been doing with their series "Benefits Street".
Five episodes were made for The Scheme, however, two were only aired initially because of a court case involving the stars of the show who claimed they were being miss-represented. Another controversy surrounding this documentary was that Chris Cunningham who was featured in the show was charged with armed robbery during the broadcasting phase in May 2010.
