The Salt of the Earth is a documentary about the life of Sebastião Salgado, a renowned photographer who has travelled the world over the last 40 years telling the stories of deprived societies. After photographing for such a long time, Sebastião has a created a massive collection of work which shows the ever changing condition of humanity and major events that have been captured on the way. The Salt of the Earth shows the passion and dedication one must have to capture such a massive gallery of images and not get killed on the way becuase as much compassion as the images show they are often full of violence.
Salt of the Earh was first shown to the public at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and immediatly was nomminated for a number of awards, including the Academy award for best documentary which it won at the 87th award.
