Call of Duty is a first person shooter series historically produced by game developers, Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sledgehammer games. This game franchise helped bring to light the new non-linear style of playing that has become so popular that today it is what a gamer expects from a game. Call of Duty was orginally PC only when its first launched in October 2003 under the title “Call of Duty” but since then versions of the game have been put onto more than 10 consoles and handheld devices from the Nokia N-guage to the Xbox-One.

 

Call of Duty has to be one of the most popular first person shooter games of all time. As a result the game is constantly evolving from one release to the next as the game developers constantly push the bounders for what is possible. This Call of Duty Documentary starts at the first title published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, while the graphics and game engine look dated it laied down the foundation for a revolution in the way we play games.

 

This documentary takes a chronological look at the series and explores in detail both the intricate and fundamental changes Call of Duty has gone through to get to where it is now. It’s important to note that this documentary about Call of Duty was made back in 2011 so the newest releases are not featured. The latest game is Call of Duty: Infinite War which was published by Activision on November 4th 2016. It is the 16th instalment and is available on Microsoft Window, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
