The Ascent of Money documentary is based on the 2008 book "The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World" by Harvard professor Niall Ferguson.
Following in the books footsteps, this film takes us on a journey through the long history of money, banking and credit. The journey will be one of enlightenment, exploring accomplished British historian Ferguson's research who has been in Time Magazines top 100 most influential people list numerous times.
More than just looking at money, the documentary exposes how it directly affects diplomacy, warfare and globalisation. A documentary which follows similar subjects as this one, though in a different context, is JFK to 9/11: Everything Is a Rich Man's Trick by Francis Richard Conolly which is certainly worth a look.
