The 16-year-oldCyntoia Brown was sentenced to life in prison in 2010 for the murder of 43 years old Johnny Allen in 2004. The case has sprung back into the public eye recently because of celebrity attention primarily from Rihanna and Kim Kardashian pushing for her release. This Cyntoia Brown documentary was first released back in 2012 on BBC Three and follows the story from the first week over the course of a six-year trial which would result in a hefty sentence handed down by the judge. As the film shows there is a lot more to the story than on face-value as Brown’s life was wrecked by abuse, violence, drugs and prostitution.
