In the "Hate and Pride in Orlando" documentary Stacey Dooley investigates the aftermath of the infamous Pulse Bar shooting in Orlando, Florida.
On June 12, 2016, security guard, turned terrorist Omar Mateen went into the Pulse Bar gay night-club and opened fire with a SIG semi-automatic rifle and Glock semi-automatic pistol, killing 49 innocent people and wounding 58 more. It was the worst mass shooting in American history until the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting.
The motivation of Omar Mateen was pretty clear as he called 9-1-1 during the attack proclaiming to be an "Islamic Soldier", pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the so-called Islamic state. And the fact that he targeted a gay nightclub gives further insight into his mind.
Stacey Dooley: Hate and Pride in Orlando, reveals the devastating impact this terrorist attack had on people.
