"Sigur Rós: Heima", a 2007 documentary by Dean DeBlois which chronicles the legendary 2006 tour of Iceland by rock band Sigur Rós.
Having toured sellout concerts around the world to hundreds of thousands of people, the band decided that they would give something back to their home country by performing for free. These gigs mostly happened in July and August of 2006 and were not announced to the public beforehand. This is reminiscent of the Rolling stones free gig (Altamont Free Concert) in 1970 which was featured in the documentary "Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter", but while that one ended in disaster, all of the Sigur Rós gigs were a great success.
The following gigs were performed:
Miklatún - Reykjavík (30 July) and Ásbyrgi (4 August)
Ólafsvík (24 July)
Ísafjörður (26 July)
Djúpavík (27 July)
Háls, Öxnadalur (28 July)
Seyðisfjörður (3 August)
In addition, a protest concert against the Kárahnjúkar dam was performed at Snæfellsskála (3 August)
