Saturn documentary. In this film take a close look at the 6th planet from the sun located 9.8 AU from the sun or about 10 times the distance as the Earth is away. Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system with an equatorial diameter of 108,728 km which is massive but it is nothing compared to that of Jupiter which could fit 1,221 Earths where Saturn could only fit 95. however, saturn is an amazing planet scientifically as well being stunning to look at because of its fantastic rings first observed by Italian scientist Galileo Galilei way back in 1610. Of course, it is only in recent times that we have truly been able to get up close to this amazing planet and see what it is all about.
Saturn is a gas giant making any form of life impossible (to our current knowledge) but the planet is orbited by 62 moons with varying in size and distance from their parent. In recent times the moon Titan has been of great interest to scientists since it has been identified as somewhere which could harbour life. Not only do we see some of Saturn’s moons but the rings are also looked at in depth revealing their intricacy.
