Richard Trenton Chase, a.k.a. "The Vampire of Sacramento", was a cannibal, necrophiliac, and serial killer who was active in California from December 1977 to January 1978.

This Richard Chase documentary narrated by British actor Christopher Slade profiles this prolific killer who is often referred to merely as "Dracula". Chase had delusions in which aliens told him to consume human flesh and blood to protect him from "outside forces" that were trying to steal his blood.

These delusions would surmount to a killing spree in the late 1970's. He would usually attempt to drive-by-shoot his victims and then proceed to drink their blood, and in some cases eat their flesh too.

After killing 6 people Chase was apprehended and put on trial in 1979.  On may 8th, a jury rejected his lawyer's argument of non-premeditated murder reasons of insanity and he was sentenced to death by gas chamber in the State of California, a sentence which was carried out in 1980.
