The three-part "Extreme Russia" documentary hosted by British broadcaster Reggie Yates explores aspects of contemporary Russian society that are rarely seen by Westerners. In the film, Reggie travels from the heart of Russia, Moscow, to some of the most remote parts of the country in the Siberian wilderness.

In part one, we see the extreme far-right nationalists, many of which are very racist and homophobic and are considered to be some of the most dangerous people in the country, carrying knives and not being afraid to use them. Of course, this puts Reggie in a pretty dangerous situation as he is exactly the kind of person likely to be attacked.

The second episode examines what it is like to be gay and Russian. For while Russia has progressed massively since the collapse of the Soviet Union, homophobic attacks and murders are rampant. Russia is considered the most dangerous place in Europe to live for a gay person, male or female.

The concluding part of  Reggie Yates: Extreme Russia looks at a "teen model factory". Girls as young as thirteen compete for modelling contracts in bikinis and high-heels offering slightly erotic posses for the scouts, which weirds Reggie out. While the pay-off financially can be fantastic one learns there is also a darker side to this industry.
