K2: The Killer Summit is a documentary film about the 2008 K2 disaster where 11 climbers were killed on the second largest peak in the world, the worst incident to ever to happen there. With dramatic reenactments, real footage of the incident and interviews with many of the people who survived the day that killed their fellow mountaineers. The goal of Expedition was taken on by small teams from the United States, South Korea, Serbia, France and The Nederland's who formed a larger & stronger team which would have a better chance of getting to K2’s summit 8,611 meters above sea-level. Not only is reaching the summit extremely difficult because of its sheer height, the infamous “Bottleneck” section of the mountain is vertical, icy and prone to collapse. The mountain range is also in a very remote area between the border of Pakistan and China. This presents an irresistible challenge for a dedicated climber as it is considered to be one of, if not the toughest climb in the world.

The groups arrived at based camp IV of Thursday 31st July and waited for the weather to clear before an attempt at the summit. K2: The Killer Summit explains the story behind what happened after the teams and independent climbers set off from the camp on Friday 1st August including the aftermath and controversies that followed.
