Jane Birkin: Mother of all Babes
No ratings yet!

A 50 minute long 2003 documentary about Jane Birkin, the British actress, model and singer, and icon of the swinging sixties. Birkin was a long-term partner of legendary French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, and appeared in over 70 films herself. The documentary was filmed over a period of many years by her close friend Gabrielle Crawford. We can’t find any evidence that this was aired by any major television stations, but it has been aired by the American satellite channel SundanceTV.

Birkin is perhaps best known among younger generations for being the namesake of the popular ‘Birkin bag’ which is manufactured by high-end brand Hermes. In 2015 Jane Birkin wrote to Hermes and requested that they remove her name from the bag due to the methods they use to acquire their crocodile and alligator leather, she later withdrew her request after being satisfied that Hermes took appropriate action to change the working practices of their leather suppliers.
