Into The Inferno, a 2016 documentary in which world-renowned filmmaker Werner Herzog who is responsible for likes of Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Grizzly Man and Into the Abyss graces our screens once again with spectacular views of ferocious volcanos and the people who live on their destructive path.

Volcanos are fascinating for they represent both unstoppable destruction and creation simultaneously. While volcanoes are often seen to be hell on Earth Into The Inferno focuses on the mystery, violent beauty and superstition that people see in volcanoes, especially for those who live close to them, gaining a respecting spiritual equilibrium.

The film which features cinematography by Peter Zeitlinger was first shown at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13th, 2016 and generally received positive reviews. To make the documentary Herzog and his crew travelled to volcanoes in Indonesia, Iceland, North Korea and Ethiopia.
