How Many People Can Live on Planet Earth? This seemingly simple question is what British naturalist David Attenborough wanted to find out so he decided to make this documentary.
Reflecting on a time he can remember back in the 1950's when the world's population was around 2.5 billion, David looks into how the rapid growth of the human population has affected both people and the planet. Today there are roughly 7.3 billion humans on this planet and that figure is set to grow by at least 1.1% year-on-year or about 83 million. When will the planet no longer be able to sustain this growth? Speaking to experts and performing his own research David hopes to reveal some answers.
