Fighting the Islamic State with Iraqs Golden Division: The Road to Fallujah, a documentary about one of the most dangerous war-torn places on Earth presented by the renowned news publishing service, Vice. Fallujah has been taken over by Islamic State who use brutal tactics to win their battles. Over the last couple of years the Islamic state has captured much of the Anbar Province which includes Mosul, Ramadi and Fallujah. However with armament from the United states Iraqi fighters are already winning back land in the fight against extremism.
This documentary takes us right into the fight along side the Golden Division Special forces unit as they make strikes on ISIS targets in the city. The targets are not only military but also civilians who are collaborating and giving information to Islamic State which in some cases they rely on to keep the upper hand. To people who are under the control of ISIS the Iraq forces and Shiite militants are seen as saviours since they are the ones saving them from the savage, impoverished and torturous state they have been forced to live in against their will.
This documentary shows how villages and cities are being cleared of the extremist ISIS militants, from cutting supply routes to hitting them head on.
