Marijuana has been legalised for medical use in 50 American states, but in the United Kingdom the drug remains completely illegal and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon and the UK government have decided that marijuana has no therapeutic value. That doesn’t stop people from self-medicating with marijuana, in fact, 6.2% of the population smokes weed either recreationally or for medical reasons.
Dying For Weed is a 2016 documentary which is part of BBC Three’s Drugs Map of Britain series, it goes around the UK meeting people who use marijuana to relieve symptoms including pain or who are using the drug and even believe that it is curing them of their illness. They explain how and why they smoke marijuana and what they believe they get out of it.
