Historian Michael Wood Michael wood takes us back to the 16th 17th and 18th as he walks the same footsteps that the Spanish explorers took all them years ago. The Conquistadors were devastating to the flourishing Southamerican empires largely because they travelled back to Spain with tales of extravagant wealth prompting more and more expeditions. By the end of the 16th century, more than 240,000 Conquistadors had travelled to the New land and as a result, silver American imports of silver represented 1/5th of the Spanish economy.
