The full story of how the American space program put a man on the moon. This documentary was originally broadcast on July 13th 1999 and tells the largely untold story of the engineering and science behind the project which first went to the moon in 1968 as millions of people watched on T.V.

It started with Frank Borman who was the commander of the Apollo 8 space mission. The main goal of the project was to test the brand new lunar lander in Moon orbit. The project was top secret and was put together at a rapid pace as the CIA had images that suggested the Russians were also planning to make a similar craft which would be sent around the Moon. The rest is history.
